We asked Pilar DeMann of Pilar’s Mobile Beauty to kindly shape our brows and provide her mad makeup skills for a fashion shoot we had lined up with Workshop Inc.
She’s quickly become known as the “Brow Queen of Litchfield County.” Pilar does brows at Joe’s Salon, she does brows in your home, and she’ll even do brows in the parking lot (if your kid happens to go to the same school)!
Pilar used to enjoy house flirting with homes for sale in CT. She finally fell in love with one in Washington Depot and moved across the country from LA four years ago. She started doing makeup when she was 18 for friends, which turned into doing makeup for music videos, commercial productions, working for directors and producers, and finally managing clients. Pilar even did a stint with the Kardashians.
Presently, she has her own mobile beauty business and works at Joe’s Salon (New Milford) as a makeup artist and brow expert on Thursdays and Fridays. And she is currently developing her own makeup line.
While she plucked our brows and did our makeup, we plucked her brains for tons of brow and beauty tips!
Warning: Close-up pics ahead. Pores may appear larger than they actually are!
Having my brows evaluated, and being photobombed by Lucy (who is ALSO sticking her tongue out. V. rude)
Great tip being demonstrated right here. Line the inner upper eye, underneath the lashes, with a black waterproof liner. Pinnacle liner is her fave (sold at Joe’s Salon). Eyes instantly pop!
Highlighting those cheeky cheekbones!
Applying mascara to another takes a steady hand. Pilar has it! And note the contouring on the jawline…
“They are sisters, not twins” (We loved this!)
Go to a professional, it’s an art and there’s training involved.
Men need shaping too.
GrandeLASH on the brows is good for growth.
And now our before and after shots!
Very happy with this subtle fresh look. A well-groomed brow is a happy brow!
Amazing! A little pluck here and there and “filling in” by Pilar’s expert hand, and voila!
Our makeup in action at the shoot!
Pilar’s Beauty Product Tips
Spend money on anything skin-related: moisturizer, tinted moisturizer, foundation, concealers. You will get better pigment and higher quality ingredients and this makes all the difference.
My favorite cheek colors are from NARS – creme and powders.
If you’re going drugstore, go mascara all the way. I love Maybelline Lash Discovery and L’Oreal Voluminous.
I have a ton of Cover Girl Jumbo Gloss Balms, they’re the greatest!
If you buy your cheek color from the drugstore, know that the pigments are lower end and try to stay close to your skin tone – just rosier. Nuance by Salma Hayek has a nice product.
Wash your face! Hydrate! My favorite way to exfoliate is with a hot washcloth at the end of a bath or shower. I don’t use toners or face scrubs or expensive face wash – Neutrogena extra gentle face wash works great so does Cetaphil.
Pilar’s Mobile Beauty also offers lash and brow tinting, makeup lessons, makeup bag clean-out, teen parties, and men’s grooming. Call or text to arrange 310-985-2005.
