Westbrook Inn Bed and Breakfast

This month’s getaway brings us to the Westbrook Inn Bed and Breakfast (just feet from the beach)! It’s a charming vintage inn with beautiful guest rooms, fireplaces, robes, and most importantly, cookies, coffee, and tea available at all times. ? Not only that, they serve a stellar breakfast in the morning, and guests have access to bikes, kayaks, and games in the parlor.

New England charm with modern amenities

Innkeepers Meri Wick& Marcus Little invited us down to check out their vintage getaway experience for the modern traveler (that’s us!). The Westbrook Inn was built in 1876 by a local sea captain and has been beautifully restored. This warm and inviting Victorian home features 10 guest rooms with queen or king beds, private baths, and awesome period decor.

Meet the innkeepers

Meri & Marcus took on ownership of the inn in 2019. After years in the beer industry, Meri decided to pursue her dream and open a B&B. Then, as we know, 2020 would change everything and when they had to close initially, they decided to double down on the guest experience and took on many projects to improve the inn. Eventually, when they reopened in June, the boutique wedding business exploded, and their occupancy was triple what it was in 2019.

Guests love their experience (as we could see from taking a peek in the guestbook!) and so did we!

Vintage coastal guest rooms & suites

Give Meri a call to book a room (or rooms – this makes for a perfect friends meetup-getaway!) and she’ll match you with the perfect one! They have great CT shoreline names like the Duck Island Room and The Saybrook Suite. We stayed in The Clinton Suite and The Haddam Room ?.

Complimentary bikes

Perfect to take a nice and easy (flat!) ride along the shoreline, maybe even stopping at a local restaurant for an evening cocktail before sunset!

Extra touches ?

A spot of tea in the Great Room

And enjoy a cookie, chocolate, lemon water, and coffee, too!

2 blocks to this view…

…if you’re lucky rainbow spotters like we were that day!

Outdoor hangout spots a plenty!

Take a seat. They’ve got a large outdoor dining patio, a couch/firepit combo, a front porch, and a lower dock overlooking the Pachaug River…with a fire pit ?. We tried them all!

What’s for dinner?

The Westbrook Inn has loads of great restaurants nearby to choose from. We opted for pizza from Marcus’s favorite, TJ’s Restaurant and Pizza, and OMG our bacon, onion, pineapple pizza was heaven.

Breakfast is served…

…between 8 & 9 am and the menu is something truly delicious that Meri creates that morning. We had a granola parfait with a warm scone from Dagmar’s Desserts. The memory of that scone lives on with us!

And a warm fruit compote, honey ham, stuffed waffle number. Yu-um!

Paddle in the Pachaug

Kayaks, beach chairs, and umbrellas are all complimentary. And convenient, the river is in the backyard!

Anyone looking to elope?!

The Westbrook Inn specializes in elopements! Check out their packages. It’s a perfect spot for an intimate wedding. This year they’re having a New Year’s Eve elopement party! Give Meri a call for details.

Upcoming events?

Meri tells us that the holidays are always special at the inn – it’s all decorated and lit up for the season.

We amore unique decor

Scrabble needs to add a couple more C tiles to the game…

Refreshed and ready to hit the road!

Thanks, Meri & Marcus, we had a great time!!
