Tal Fagin, life coach, author, and friend!

We first met Tal for a life coach session almost 10 years ago when we had just started Unlocking (Litchfield back then!). She gave us some great working-together tips that obviously did the trick. Time flies!

It was our pleasure to meet up with Tal again recently so that we could congratulate her on her new book launch and catch up!

What led you to write this book?

First and foremost, there was Lola, my own inner critic and lifelong companion. Thanks to “her,” I know firsthand how relentless and exhausting self-judgment can be. My experience as a coach showed me just how pervasive this struggle is—especially among high achievers. So many intelligent, creative, warm, wonderful people secretly feel like they’re never enough—and this has a way of holding them back.

I wanted to offer them relief, a fresh perspective, and practical tools to help them stop beating themselves up so that they could feel more fulfilled and feel more confident in sharing their ideas and talents with the world.

Also, I was especially motivated by the resistance I’ve encountered from people skeptical about self-help—starting with my own! I wanted to write something accessible, actionable, and engaging. Something with a bit of an edge that would resonate with those who might roll their eyes at traditional self-improvement (as I once did) but could truly benefit from these tools and learn a kinder way to relate to themselves.
