We popped into Analog & Aroma at J.René Coffee Roasters last week and instantly fell for the vibe! The space was alive with good tunes, the aroma of specialty coffee, and the clink of wine glasses. Our kind of scene!
We nibbled on delicious small plates by Chef Rui Correia (thanks, Chef!), sipped expertly crafted drinks, and soaked in the cozy, evening energy. It’s the perfect Thursday-to-Saturday escape from 5–8:30 pm on Park Road in West Hartford!

Analog & Aroma: West Hartford’s new evening coffee, culinary, & music experience
If you thought J.René Coffee Roasters was only a fantastic morning coffee spot, think again. With nearly two decades of coffee mastery under their belt, owners José René Martínez, Marie Engel, and partner Anne Mercer have brewed up something entirely new for the evenings — Analog & Aroma.
Think rich espresso, worldly dishes, live music, guest DJs, and curated adult bevs… all in the comfort of a space that feels like home.

From sunrise brews to sunset vibes
Since opening its doors in 2006, J.René Coffee Roasters has been shaping Connecticut’s coffee culture one perfectly roasted bean at a time. In 2012, their Park Road café became the hub for coffee lovers far and wide, followed by the launch of their second brand, Victus Coffee, in 2015 (with its own Hartford café opening in 2024).
Now, as of July 2025, the team has turned their attention to the golden hours, coming up with Analog & Aroma.

Analog & Aroma is more than a dream come true…it’s an amalgamation of talents.
José René Martínez
The talents –
- Chef Rui Correia delivers an irresistible selection of small plates that ignite the senses.
- Dana Borque, production roaster & beverage manager, curates a thoughtful menu of local beers & wines.
- Marie Engel & Anne Mercer bring welcoming hospitality.
- René offers a reserve coffee menu you won’t find anywhere else.
- Local musicians like Jared Beamish and Michael Carabello set the tone with live performances.

Chef Rui Correia creates imaginative yet approachable small plates that made our taste buds sing!

Step inside and get comfortable!
It’s cozy yet worldly, influenced by the team’s diverse backgrounds (Portugal, Puerto Rico, and Italy!). We felt like we had magically been transported to a hip Brooklyn coffee spot!
