We first learned of the Yatra Collection when we met Gina Duckworth and fell in love with the beautiful tunic she was wearing. Lucky for us, Gina was willing to share the details on where she got it, and as it turns out, the co-owner of the Yatra Collection company lives in Washington Depot! We love it when we discover a fashion connection in our backyard!
Yatra means journey in Hindi, so, we took a yatra to Washington to meet Rati Madan at her beautiful home, and of course, try on as many pieces of the collection as we could in a couple of hours…

The dream of two friends in boarding school…
The Yatra Collection was launched a little over five years ago by lifelong friends Rati Madan and Gayatri Khosla. The two met at boarding school in India and always dreamed of starting their own label. Fast forward through kids and successful careers in NYC (banking for Rati and Gayatri in HR), and the time was finally right to launch the Yatra Collection.
The look…
The Yatra Collection of handcrafted women’s apparel, jewelry, and scarves are all made by artisans in India. Yatra Collection combines traditional Indian workmanship with a modern silhouette. The two friends design each piece and travel to India frequently to meet with artisans and workshops around the country. Finding the best materials to realize their vision, items are handmade, hand-stitched, block printed, beaded, and quite exquisite!
The Yatra Collection is based on a friendship and connects the two worlds Rati and Gayatri love; India and here. A portion of sales is donated to charities all over the US. We love everything about it!
Where can we get a piece of the Yatra Collection?
