Eleven years – how did that happen?! To celebrate, we wanted to do something special, something that felt very us. So, we booked a photoshoot with Jen Cousins Photography – whose work we’ve admired on Instagram for years—and it was…everything!
The Jen Cousins Photography Experience
One of the things that makes Jen stand out is her all-in-one approach. In addition to photography, she owns Transcend Beauty, offering professional hair & makeup services in her boutique studio in Morris. Jen offers studio shoots, mini-shoots, and location shoots – we opted for hair & makeup at her studio, then off to Bantam Arts Factory, our chosen backdrop!
First: Get our glam on at Transcend Beauty
Jen (who is also a professional makeup artist and colorist) did our makeup, and Erika & Jackie worked their magic on our hair. The best part? We all got to know each other before the shoot even began (oh, the topics we covered in such a short time! 😆), which made us super comfortable, and the entire experience relaxed, and such good fun!
More Than a Photoshoot
The team didn’t just prep us – they stayed with us throughout the shoot for touch-ups and hype-girl energy (every photoshoot needs this!). Their vibe is the perfect mix of fashion-forward and calming, making the entire afternoon feel like a creative, confidence-boosting girls’ day!
Jen & Erika kept showing us pose ideas on their phones, and we were more than willing to give them a try!

Location: Bantam Arts Factory
We chose Bantam Arts Factory for its raw, industrial feel – it matched the “steel” theme we were channeling for year eleven. (11 years of marriage is steel, and while we’re not married… we are work wives…and feel like we’re made of steel after all that we’ve experienced Unlocking Connecticut! 💪😆)
The entire session was seamless, inspiring, and so much fun—we’re obsessed with how everything turned out.
