If our eyes are the windows to our souls, then our eyebrows are the frames. It’s time to take care of our frames, and for that, we go to Pilar BLLaC Beauty Studio in Washington Depot. Because that’s where the “Eyebrow Queen of Litchfield County” lives.

Microblading and tinting before/afters ahead, but first, meet…
Pilar DeMann, our woman crush forever
We’ve known Pilar ever since we named her the Eyebrow Queen of Litchfield County, way back in 2016. As well as being an awesome human, she’s got incredible eyebrows we aspire to have. She has an eye for symmetry like no other and has a natural talent for giving others beautiful brows!
She recently opened a most chic boutique in Washington Depot called the Pilar BLLaC Beauty Studio.
What does BLLaC mean?
BLLaC/blak/ is an acronym for a beauty routine I believe in that consists of doing your Brows, Lashes, Lips, and Cheeks to liven up your face. I’ll be launching my own beauty line, Pilar BLLaC, next year. Stay tuned!
What services do you provide?
- Brows, microblading, shaping, and tinting.
- Lash tinting.
- Makeup services – I do makeup applications for special events and photoshoots, makeup lessons, and makeup bag clean outs.
- LightStim LED light therapy.
Ok, we’re ready, enhance our frames!
Microblading
Microblading is the deposit of pigment into the skin, much like a tattoo but not as deep, therefore not permanent. The application resembles a hair, so it gives the illusion of a more complete brow if you are missing hair or a whole eyebrow if you don’t have hair at all.
Pilar’s aesthetic is very soft, very light, very natural-looking brows. She’s licensed and holds 8 certifications in training.
The pigment is scratched into the skin in fine, short strokes resembling hair, using a hand tool with a blade formed of tiny needles.
The entire process was painless and now I can wake up as if Pilar crept into my room in the night and did my brows for me every morning for months to come!
LightStim LED light therapy
Post blading, a LightStim session helps the healing process. Pilar is a certified LightStim Professional. LED light therapy delivers light energy in a similar way that plants absorb light energy from the sun. LightStim emits UV-free, beneficial light energy to the skin. When applied directly to the skin it can reduce fine lines and wrinkles, temporarily increase blood circulation and treat mild to moderate acne.
Just a tint…
If microblading isn’t for you, Pilar offers a fantastic eyebrow tint. Tinting lasts for a couple of weeks, not as long as microblading, but also there are no blades involved 🙂
Brow tint adds color to the hair and underlying skin giving the appearance of a more complete and fuller brow. If you have brows that lack color, patchy or thinning, tint can help dramatically. (No more paint brushing color onto my brows each morning! -Lora)

Pilar offers a special highly-curated selection of items for sale – all products she uses and tests personally and include:
Newbury Farms goat milk hand cream. Handcrafted, very rich hand cream (Pilar uses it in her LED service to give your hands moisture) in a variety of scents. Locally made in Newtown.
Trees and Flowers for Skin. A chemical-free, very unique two product skincare line made by a New York makeup artist. Face polish, which gently buffs skin (no more tearing your skin with scrub!) and a gorgeous skin oil to feed and heal (obsessed).
JD Bauer Power deodorant. Handcrafted, small-batch, chemical-free deodorant from California. It really works!
I believe makeup enhances our unique beauty and helps to make us look our best. But, we don’t need a ton of it! A lesson can go a long way in teaching you how to do simple, everyday makeup. Makeup is fun, don’t fear it!
