We had a dino-mite day @YalePeabodyMuseum

We explored how animals evolved, marveled at ancient innovations, and discovered how science keeps rewriting the story.

The Peabody had a glow-up!

The Peabody has long been a beloved spot for curious minds and dinosaur lovers alike. Now, after a massive renovation (she looks beautiful!!), the museum has a whole new vibe. It’s still got that classic Gothic feel, but it’s lighter, more spacious, and packed with exciting new exhibits.

The renovation added one-third more exhibition space and repositioned the museum’s iconic dinosaurs in scientifically accurate poses!

Level 1: Let’s start at the beginning (literally)

From the dawn of life to the dino days…

The first-floor kicks things off with the origins of life on Earth. We walked through the story of evolution, ending in the land of dinosaurs. A fave moment? Learning that the Jurassic Park Velociraptor was based on the Deinonychus, discovered by a Yale researcher.

We also spotted iconic specimens like the Brontosaurus and Stegosaurus, both on display in all their fossilized glory.

Level 2: Time travel, technology & tombs

On the second floor, things get worldly. You’ll explore the History of Science & Technology, peek into Ancient Egypt, and see how our understanding of the world has evolved over centuries.

From mummies to microscopes, this level connects ancient innovations with modern discoveries – and does it in a totally accessible, engaging way.

Level 3: Sparkle, science & creepy crawlies

The Minerals, Earth & Space gallery lets you explore 4.5 billion years of natural history through dazzling crystals, meteorites, and more. Jaws were on the floor at the gemstones!

You’ll also find living labs filled with plant life, insects, birds, and all kinds of critters. It’s a mix of old-school museum magic and modern interactive science.

Final verdict: 10/10 recommend!

From fossils to pharaohs, geodes to galaxies, the Yale Peabody Museum brings science to life in the most engaging, awe-inspiring way. It’s equal parts educational and FUN, whether you’re 5 or 95!

Admission to the Peabody is always free!

Open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm and Sundays from noon to 5 pm.
