We recently headed over to Greenwich to meet up with Billy Blanks, Jr. at his dance studio to ask a few q’s about his new Lifetime Network show Dance It Out, and of course, make a TikTok or two!
Billy Blanks, Jr. has been dreaming about his new moving fitness talk show Dance It Out (DIO) since he was 16. When you grow up in fitness studios with your dad, Tae Bo® creator Billy Blanks, are good buddies with Paula Abdul, and have danced in music videos with the likes of Madonna and Quincy Jones…well, it’s no surprise that Billy Blanks, Jr. would create a show that combines getting fit with inspiring stories + interviews!
It’s the first of its kind and you can catch it on Lifetime Saturdays at 10:30 AM EST!
The low-down on the new show coming up…but first, we dance!
The two pics below are exactly what Billy is all about. He believes we’ll all feel a little bit better if we just “dance it out.” And he’s right! We stopped by Billy’s studio in Greenwich to say hi towards the end of the class he was teaching. Wouldn’t you know it, the next thing we know we’re dropping our faux fur coats and joining in on his Dance It Out class. If you live close, you should go! So fun!
Dance It Out, the Talk/Fitness Show
Dance It Out is a morning TV show that combines getting fit with being inspired; making an audience feel good both inside and out!
The show is designed to encourage people and get them up and moving. Every week, Billy is joined by guests of all ages, shapes, and sizes. Through a mix of dance and emotional interviews, they share their soul-affirming stories of overcoming major medical, life, loss and emotional events.
After the interview, viewers learn new dance moves and get their heart pumping for a dynamic 20-minute living room dance party!
Led by Billy, Dance It Out has a dazzling cast of DIO pro dancers and an energized VJ/MC who spins originally composed DIO music. The dynamic and emotionally engaging tracks range from pop, hip hop, Broadway, salsa, Bollywood, jazz, reggae, and more!
The show meets people where they’re at. I teach classes but can only reach so many people here. I wanted the show because I felt like there just might be people watching at home who will think maybe they can try that and do one or two steps.
