Essential 80s movies – part II

In our previous 80s movies post we shared what you all recommended. We had to do a part II because you missed some! Here are 12 of our favorites!

Valley Girl

Lora: Prob one of my fave 80s movies that you probably haven’t seen. It’s cheesy. It’s awesome.

Top Gun

Maverick: “I feel the need…”

Goose: “…the need for speed!”

and Iceman… that’s all.

The Lost Boys

“After moving to a new town, two brothers discover that the area is a haven for vampires.” – IMDb

And of course, a killer soundtrack!

Steel Magnolias

Ask Lora to reenact the Shelby scene sometime…

Dead Poet’s Society

“Oh Captain, my Captain!” Hits you in the heart.

Mystic Pizza

Another coming of age movie, this time putting Mystic, CT on the map.

Trivia: The “Mystic Pizza” restaurant in Mystic was not where the movie was filmed. Only one scene of the movie was actually filmed in Mystic village, which was the scene where the fishing boat was going through the draw bridge. Mystic would have been too crowded for filming a movie so the filming was done in the neighboring town of Stonington, CT.

Heathers

“Veronica (Winona Ryder) is part of the most popular clique at her high school, but she disapproves of the other girls’ cruel behavior. When Veronica and her new boyfriend, J.D. (Christian Slater), confront clique leader Heather Chandler (Kim Walker) and accidentally poison her, they make it appear a suicide.” IMDB

Caution: Clip below has language/material not suitable with kiddies around…

Airplane!

Too many quotable lines to list here. Just watch the clip below…?

Adventures in Babysitting

Anything with Elisabeth Shue, basically.

Bill + Ted’s Excellent Adventure

Where some of our humor was formed, for sure. Most heinously.

Beetlejuice

So good, they made a Broadway production out of it (which was amazing!). Jump in the line…

Big

Why is it they don’t make movies like this anymore?
