We love cooking classes…

Especially when we get to hang out with Chef Anne who we’ve known since the beginning of our blogging days 7 years ago! Besides offering incredible catering services, she holds small group & private cooking classes in her commercial kitchen studio in Brookfield.

🧑🏼‍🍳 Culinary journey this way!

The First Bite offers classes like 30-Minute Meals, The Paella Experience, InstantPot Demystified, and Pasta Making, with more being added all the time. Anne also does wine-pairing events, spirited dinners, and knife skills workshops. Oh, and she also offers private classes in your home!

🔪 Knife aficionados should note that Anne is also a retailer of Wüsthof cutlery.

We learned how to make…

Sweet potato gnocchi with brown butter sage

Four ingredients – that’s what we’re talking about!

We love an easy recipe that makes an impressive & delicious meal. Let’s hear it for keeping it simple! Basically, flour, mashed roasted sweet potato, ricotta cheese + parmesan cheese.

Blended together into a dough, chilled for a while, then cut into lengths, rolled into balls, and dragged lightly over a gnocchi paddle. We thoroughly enjoyed our ball rolling and gnocchi paddling assignment.

We learned a lot, laughed a lot, then ate a lot. 👌 It’s a perfect girls’ night out thing to do, just saying!

Next small office party/teambuilding here!

Spring salad with fennel, mandarin oranges & blood orange vinaigrette

Our new favorite salad recipe. Simple, pretty, and OMG the flavors together.

We went straight to Nutmeg Olive Oil to grab some of the Blood Orange olive oil used in the dressing. Flavorgasm!

Just one of MANY awesome tips we learned from Anne. We were geeking out, and we don’t usually get that way about cooking 😆.

And to finish…flourless chocolate cake with raspberry coulis

Anne had made them earlier and actually sells them online along with other catering-to-go goodies (can be picked up at the store). Next dinner party you throw…these chocolate cakes are your pièce de résistance!

Finally, we got to take off our aprons and enjoy the fruits of our labor (or mostly Anne’s. We do love to watch cooks in action!).
